In Remote Control two voices speculate on our contemporary relationship with technology, the spaces opened up by virtual worlds and the re-assessment of time in gaming. Reflecting on the experience of interactive screens, often repressed in the public debate, Remote Control suggests that the feedback we receive from our frequentation with screens is all but clear, demanding instead new ways of understanding. In search of a meaningful and shared definition of ‘technology’, Remote Control takes gaming as an exemplary form of experience, suggesting that a dialogue between ‘users’ is necessary and capable of opening up new spaces for elaborating traumatic events.
Produced during the MA Documentary Photography, Remote Control also comprises a series of photographs taken in the context of Cardiff's gaming community.
With the voices of Harvey Carman and Chris Munasinha.
